Vagner Wulfenstern

Career: Captain within the Stirland State Troops (Witch Hunter in game)

Appearance: Vagner is perhaps slightly longer than your average Imperial citizen. His hight is combined with a lean body, tempered with the musculature of a man who has spent much of his life with a blade in his hands. His hair is greyish as he is no longer a spring chicken. His eyes are a cold, unblinking and penetrating steel grey. Whilst possessing a certain charm there is no doubting that the life he's led has made his appearances somewhat weathered and rugged and given his looks a hard edge.

Background: Born in the village of Oberwil on the banks of the River Stir in the vicinity of the state capital of Wurtbad, as Vagner Grimm. A character with a sordid past he would eventually come to serve as a soldier in the state forces of Stirland, rising quickly to become a sergeant in one of the Count's Swordmen regiments. In the years leading up to the Age of Reckoning he has risen, by equally sordid means, up the echelons of the Stirland hierarchy being made captain as well as not more than two year ago also becoming a lesser noble. He became a noble by marrying the daughter of a poverty stricken nobleman who found the captain to be a good deal for his offspring. Unbeknownst to both of them the father's poverty was directly related to the machinations of Vagner himself and thus he became a Wulfenstern.

He has angered a great many higher ups in Stirland over his appointment as the Electoral Mandate of the League of Stirland which many have felt should not have gone to a lowly Captain and upstart usurper noble.

How well does he/she know the true intent of the League: As Count Stirland's foremost representative in this gathering of his allied forces Vagner is well versed with what the League is really meant to be doing. His patriotism and the ruthless efficiency with which he sets about achieving his aims are well known. Who knows though. There might be things about the League that not even Captain Wulfenstern is aware of.

Personality: Vagner is a Stirland patriot through and through ultimately believing it is the right of the province to rule the rest of the Empire. In his mind it is the conspiring of the other provinces that has led to Stirland no longer being the home of the Emperor of the Empire something which Stirland has been many times before. The biggest slight was during the Time of the Three Emperors when the then Elector Count of Stirland was elected Emperor but was contested by some of his peers. When defeated by Ottilia of Talabecland at the Battle of the Talabec his claim to the throne was ultimately to fail. However as much of a patriot as he is there is no glory of more worth than that of the personal. Throughout his life Vagner has lied, sweet-talked, schemed and murdered in order to ascend to the top. He is power hungry, cold hearted and driven. He is no complete psychopath however and knows when to act and how to act to get the best of a given situation. He will often initially strive to get people on the back foot and make them feel a bit worried before embracing them, thus ascertaining his dominance over them.

Interesting tidbits: So great and widely known is Vagner's Stirland patriotism that he is sometimes known simply as "the Green" because the Stirland state colours run in him like blood. Likes to smoke the pipe preferring Wurtbad Kindling as his tobacco. He is also mildly obsessed with swords which he collects both for their looks and good craftsmanship.
